Substitute, 2000, installation views at Schlosspark, Ismaning

Roswitha Huber has found the small remnants of the decorative fountain in the park, that can still be seen on a view of Quaglio. With the help of a digitized photo montage consisting of different views of the fountain from former times, she creates - by adding a number of contemporary ingredients - an effect of estrangement. Mounted onto a transparency, the in many ways artificial fountain represents a mixture of past and present times - an ironical allusion to the treatment of monuments in general. Water games, of course, naturally belong to every park, even in a country like ours in which it quite often rains.
